More on BioMeridian Evaluation

Interview with Dr. Wilson about the BioMeridian:

Savana: Dr. Wilson, we've been hearing a lot about the new BioMeridian services that you have added to the office. Can you tell us what this machine is doing?

Dr. Wilson: Well, Savana, this machine measures the strength of an acupuncture point. You have these points all over your body that are connected by imaginary lines called meridians. These all end in your hands and feet. So we use the instrument to measure the strength of those points. Then the computer compiles the information it got from testing, and gives us a read out of which organ systems are weak and in need of assistance, and which supplements are recommended to remedy that weakness.

Savana: Wow, that sounds complicated. Is doing this difficult or take a long time? It doesn't use needles, does it?

Dr. Wilson: No needles! The computer part itself takes about 20 minutes and it is a sensor that is pressed onto specific points on the hands and feet. I usually do some muscle testing to verify or double check particular areas, depending on the person. I also have everyone fill out a little paperwork, which can be done before the visit at home. Most people either get it from us before hand, or download it off our website. The link below will put you on the right page for that. The whole visit usually takes about 45 minutes.

Savana: Dr. Wilson, what moved you to use this machine, or add this type of service to the office?

Dr. Wilson: I wanted something simple, accurate yet specific enough to give me deeper, more detailed information about what is going on in our bodies. Symptoms or pain are our body's last resort to communicate problems to us. I want to see the leading edge of a problem so we can work with it in the early stages, which is clearly better for you than an advanced problem or disease. Additionally, when we collect this information periodically over time, it creates a pattern that may indicate possible problem areas if not interrupted.

Savana: What is your favorite thing about the BioMeridian?

Dr. Wilson: I'm really glad you asked! As a matter of fact, my favorite thing about the BioMeridian is that it doesn't just give the same supplement to every patient for a given system or organ. What I mean by that is if three people come to me and their immune system is weak, the recommendations are not necessarily the same for all three people. The BioMeridian takes several parts of the data it collects into consideration, making matches for supplements that will get that person better as quickly as their body can handle.

Savana: This is starting to sound very high tech. Is this expensive?

Dr. Wilson: The initial evaluation is $48. When we are all done, we know what supplements you need. Then we can look at what your options are. How do you want to proceed? Your decision now is to either go with the full recommendations, partial recommendations, or nothing. My job is to tell you the best that we can do for you to get you well as quickly as possible. Your job is let us know how you want to get there. I generally recommend a follow up every 30 days after the first visit to re-test, and the re-test is $27.

Savana: How long do we do this?

Dr. Wilson: A general rule of thumb is 90 days, with the checkups every 30 days. Our goal is to heal the problem well, which allows the body to work better on its own, and not necessarily have you taking many supplements forever. Once the issues that brought you into the office are in good shape, we like to be able to reduce your supplements to a couple essentials to keep you healthy. Obviously the longer a problem is present in the body and the more severe it is, the more time may be needed to heal. Also, organs that have been removed sometimes create a need to be on a supplement long term.

Savana: Dr. Wilson, thank you for taking the time to explain this.

Dr. Wilson: My pleasure Savana. Answering these types of questions is part of what we are here for. Remember you can use our website to email me directly with any other questions about any of the services in our office.

Dr. Erica Asks some important questions of interest to North Houston residents - Chiropractor North Houston Dr. Erica Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
What is the purpose of pain?
Pain prompts many North Houston folks to begin chiropractic care. But pain isn't the problem! Pain is just how your body alerts you that a limit has been reached (or exceeded), that something isn't working right and that some type of change is needed. As a chiropractor, my job is finding the underlying cause and recommending the changes needed to bring your body back into balance.
